I’ve updated the Demo Club page with links to both Dark Corners and Fall To Earth, so you can get the files directly.
Dark Corners was written sometime last summer. It’s a straight-up revenge song. And there ain’t no revenge as sweet as grade school bully revenge. But please, feel free to substitute your favorite gym coach or abusive schoolmaster as the antagonist. The music was written last summer and recorded around the same time I recorded A New Year, and I was going for something darker and less folky. I only finished the lyrics a month ago.
Fall To Earth is an acoustic version of a song I wrote with my old band in Ohio. We listened to a lot of prog rock, so our songwriting wasn’t exactly, uh, economical. The original song was almost seven minutes long; I’ve stripped it down to around five. While recording this version I totally blanked on the lyrics, so I had to bust out an unopened CD from a box in the closet so I could listen to them. It struck me that the CD hadn’t seen daylight since it was manufactured at the plant — twelve years ago.
As usual, these songs are podcast-safe under a Creative Commons license, and you’re free to copy, trade, burn and remix them to your heart’s content, no matter what the Supreme Court says.
