Podcast, ho!
What is podcasting? Podcasting is like doing your own Internet radio show by recording music and voice to MP3 and making it available for download. There’s a pretty comprehensive list of podcasters here.
I bring this up because I’ve gotten email from some podcasters asking if it’s okay to play my songs during their podcasts.
The short answer is: OMG YES!!!
The longer answer is: OMG YES!!! All of my songs, including the demos, are licensed under a Creative Commons license which allows anyone to broadcast/podcast them noncommerically. And by “noncommercial” I mean, please don’t turn my songs into jingles for snack crackers or to promote your new line of “How To Write A ‘How To Do A Podcast’ Book” books.
It’s great that people are nice enough to ask permission first, though. It kinda turns the whole “internet users are thieves” view on its head. But in case you’re wondering, permission has already been granted. So, podcast away!

As a podcaster that currently doesn’t use music (http://twt.nfshost.com/) but intends to in a new one, I can say that one the greatest boons I could imagine to both the person who wants their songs played — like you — and the person who wants to play them for people — like me — would be a clearinghouse of links for podsafe music. Finding podsafe music is hard right now! And so, logically, must be being found. And that’s a shame.

I’ve got an internet radio show also heard over local TV. IT’s all about LONG BEACH, CaLi – we have a great music scene here. Feel free to leave a voicemail message on ThePrimeSpot Hotline at 562-804-5625 if you are seeking local “podcast” music from the 562 area of SoCaL. I wil play it on my show. You can ALSO email theprimespot@yahoogroups.com as I have quite a few musicians subscribed.
TPSpodcast coming soon. Right now I am looking for a podcast partner! KaRi
