Song: “Rusty, Keep Your Eye On The Ball”

Okay. First, some context:

Watch YouTube video

I actually recall this clip being played on PBS when I was in junior high. Anyway, it’s reemergence on YouTube sparked something in my brain, because for three days afterward the line “Rusty keep your eye on the ball” kept repeating over and over and OVER in my head.

Leading me to write the dumbest song I ever wrote. Golly, aren’t you lucky I got my studio back in working order? Oh, lucky, lucky you.

Okay. You are so… whatever… that you are months late on releasing your next CD. Then you come out of nowhere with this?

Wow. Seriously, wow. This kicks butt! And I don’t mean that “sparked something” in your brain. I mean – this kicks butt.

Please Scott, finish up what you’ve been working on. The year’s about to end – and all you really have to show is this HELLUVA tease.

    Do it.

Peace, and have a happy and fruitful new year!

    Dave

  2. And JY did speak thusly:

    Sounds good.

Is it just my imagination or does this sound similar to Brad Sucks?

    Maaaybe…

Unlike myself, I think Brad would judiciously avoid using the phrase “steak cordon bleu” just because he couldn’t come up with a better rhyme.

  4. And JY did speak thusly:

btw, cool middle-eastern-sounding guitar riffs in the middle.

  5. And spinhead did speak thusly:

I’d rather listen to this than 92% of what’s on the radio.

Have to agree on the solo; kinda stream-of-consciousness connection to George Harrison (the whole eastern thing combined with “I’m Only Sleeping”) perhaps. Dachshund howls for backing vocals are a nice touch, too.

  6. And Adam Sampson did speak thusly:

    Yeah, that’s pretty cool. :)

Double-tracked vocals are pretty much Brad’s signature style, so I can see where JY’s coming from. But the rest’s very Beatles.

I’ve added a transcription to my chords page.

  7. And Sean did speak thusly:

This is my new favorite tune.
