Gig report: Glassroots
I was informed that this was the 2nd annual Glassroots Festival, and being a green event the stage and sound gear were powered by solar energy courtesy of “Solar Richard” and company:

Ironically, this was the weather that day:

…but it was all cool, since they also had a big solar-charged battery to run everything. The sun did come out briefly during my set, which prompted me to mutter something about light from the sun traveling 186K miles per second, reaching Earth in eight minutes, being absorbed by solar panels, and pumped from the speakers directly into your face as RAWK.
Short set, about 20 minutes or so. I stuck around to catch a friend’s set and catch up with some singer-songwriter people before heading home. I’ve always been impressed by Tacoma’s ferocious arts scene; it reminds me of the scene in Cleveland around when I moved away: small, but tenacious and vibrant, coming up like wildflowers beneath the sidewalk.
