The new record

SYFY cover art!My new album will be called Save You From Yourself. It’s my first full-length, and thanks to the encouragement of readers and friends, I’ve decided to make the leap and go for a professionally produced CD. That’s the proposed cover art on the right (courtesy of Scott Mongrain — thanks man).

In order to push this baby out into the world, I’ve put together a special pre-order and fund-raiser website, where you can contribute whatever amount you like in exchange for different awesomeness packages. It all goes towards the final mastering, printing and manufacturing costs.

Each package includes a preview MP3 of the new killer, studio-tastic version of “You Are Loved” which will be e-mailed to you immediately after you pre-order. Other goodies are outlined in detail on the site.

Anyway, I don’t wanna blather too much here — go check out the site. I had a lot of fun putting it together (maybe too much). If you’ve been enjoying the MP3s and demos over the years, I hope you’ll consider pre-ordering — and maybe encouraging a dozen friends to do so as well. Thanks!

(ps: I must have re-written this post a dozen times since January. Whee!)

Amazing. Boy do I wish I had more than a nickel to spare . . .

Are you pursuing any corporate sponsorship? Are the local music stores and your favorite venues all chipping in $500-$1000 each? You’d be surprised how little even a small music store flinches when you ask for a grand for nearly permanent marketing like this.

And for the big G, they get all that plus a live show. Why would they not? Heck, maybe I’ll peddle the concept down here . . .

Yay! Great to see we’re nearing the home straight here - I’ll raid the old piggy bank and see how many moths… sorry, pennies I can spare. Hopefully, I’ll be able to join the Monkeys shortly…

Seriously, you are inspiring me to finally pull myself together and get a proper CD project of my own going here :-) Just one suggestion: when you do the mastering for SYFY, please could you post here about how you’ve gone about it (i.e. whom, how, etc.), as for me that’s one of the areas of CD production I’ve never really looked into?

All the best with the rest of the project - looking forward to seeing the track listing!

Tim: absolutely. It’s a mystery to me as well.

Joel: hmm, interesting idea, I’ll have to mull it over a bit…

Scott, very pro CD cover art, great idea for a CD website, and I’m looking forward to the finished CD as well. I am almost done with my big CD project as well, just 1 mix to go. Then art, then master, then manufacturing. All the fun parts. Oh yeh, some sort of marketing…

    good luck!
    Jeff

That’s awesome! I love the cover. I need to get cracking on my own. I’ve gotten side tracked by my little cover band.

It seems there is no good software for live performance using software instruments - so being the geek I am, I wrote some. It came out so cool I’m going to put it out there as shareware.

    Check it out.

Back to recording next month I hope.
