CD mastering update
Thanks for your thoughts on my mastering dilemma. You’re totally right: the opportunity to watch and learn from a mastering pro in action is worth the added expense. It’s likely I’ll learn a trick or two that would improve my at-home recording.
I hit a snag when I found out that my original choice was booked solid until early December(!) which just wasn’t going to work for me. So working on a tip from a colleague, I ended up having a great conversation with Mark from Seattle Disc Mastering, who had an opening next week. Added bonus: his facility is close to Jim’s studio. So next Thursday I’ll be bringing him all the tracks in 24-bit WAV format, we’ll master the CD, and it will be officially done.
Well, the audio part at least. I’ve still got all the remaining artwork to do.

Tell Mark I told you it was OK to bring in 5 or 6 mixes of each song to make a master mix from and also bring in a bunch of sound effects to add..
Hey Sam, I totally forgot you also recommended Mark!
Does that mean I don’t get the commission?
I’ve got a great idea for Sam’s commission - new strings for Michael ;)
Maybe if Michael ever let me play his guitar…
