Mastering session quick recap
Just a reminder that there’s only one week left to pre-order my new album. I have to draw the line at some point so I know how many bonus CDs and t-shirts to make, etc.
As reported, the album mastering is finished. I listened to the reference disc for the first time yesterday and it sounds killer. What a difference. Mark (the engineer) told us he hardly had to fix anything at all — just a little tweaking at the extreme bass end — and mainly focused on setting volumes and “sweetening” the tracks with light compression and EQ stuff. He didn’t slam the volumes through the roof either, which was great since I didn’t even mention it.
Mark quoted me a price based on five hours, but we were finished in about three-and-a-half. I was gratified to see that Mark’s approach to mastering isn’t much different than my own, except he has a better room, way better equipment, and more discerning ears. Still, totally worth going to the pro for the finished product.
The next step is to call Mark and approve the results. He’ll create the master disc, which will be sent to the manufacturing plant. Meanwhile, I am knee-deep in packaging artwork hell.

do you need help with the packaging artwork hell? there’s a chance i could assist …
Hey, Scott Andrew,
The last time I read your blog, you were a web developer. What’s the scoop? Are you now a full-time crooner strumming the guitar?
