Another year gone by
2007 is over, done, out. Thanks for reading and listening, and for your feedback and encouragement.
Here’s a bit of my year in review:
The big news, of course, is Jim and I completed my new album, Save You From Yourself, and you helped raise over $5600 to finish the project. For the curious, here’s every blog post concerning the making of the album going back to early 2006.
And here’s a Flickr photoset of the making of the album. In hindsight I wish I’d taken more photos, especially of the guest vocalists in the studio.
I also recorded three new songs, wrote two others, and recorded a holiday song. The songwriter’s circle earlier this year really helped with my chronic writer’s block, and I’m hoping to recapture some of that energy this year, somehow. Here’s an archive of all the “song lab” blog posts.
In February I re-launched the first- and probably last-ever video contest.
I didn’t play a ton of gigs in 2007, but I played a personal record number of festival gigs during the summer. Which reminds me that I’m dropping the ball right now on next year’s booking.
And here’s a handful of favorite posts from 2007, in no particular order:
- This stupid album project — I was thinking about scrapping my CD project; this is where you talked me down from the ledge
- Hey, that’s my bike!
- Scott Andrew’s Mildly Interesting Second Life Adventure
- CLE ‘93 — an MP3 playlist of indie bands in Cleveland circa 1993.
- “Devaluing” music and other nonsense
- The death of the album
I guess that’s that. See y’all in 2008.
